Active Self-Care

It’s a “person-centered” approach focused on the individual, addressing the underlying biopsychosocial components of pain, not just the condition or symptoms. The person living with pain becomes involved in their health management and recovery as the clinician works as a guide or coach to help the person develop strategies to manage their condition along their journey.

Corrective Holistic Exercise Kinesiology (CHEK)

My approach to pan relief, health and movement combines knowledge of functional anatomy, with an understanding of the relationships between the musculoskeletal system and the glands, organs, posture, and breathing to create a full picture. The human body is an integrated system of systems – what happens in the digestive system can impact the musculoskeletal system, for example. This means our choices about diet, rest, and movement can impact our health in a wide variety of ways. Our dietary choices, the amount of rest we get and the time we take to play all have a tremendous impact on our health – they are almost certainly primary to exercise. Combine that with a powerful and comprehensive collection of musculoskeletal assessments and exercise program design techniques and you have my approach to Active Self-Care.
